2006 NEWS:
The Fifth Fifth:
Emily Budnyk-Putt and Jerry Putt added another girl to their family when they adopted 5-month-old Sophia from Guatemala in February 2006. She became the fifth member of the fifth generation of the Capon Family. Sophie joins twins, Lainie and Brennon who are now busy, active three-year-olds. The Budnyk-Putt family continues their role as Ambassadors for the Winchester Area March of Dimes with their participation in WalkAmerica.



2005 NEWS:
The Fifth Adds a Fourth:
CarolineCaroline Elena Schweigert joined the world on Sunday, June 26,2005, arriving two days before her brother Wil's birthday! As the daughter of Keith and Mary Beth Schweigert, granddaughter of Pete and Carolyn Budnyk and great-granddaughter of Ted and Lyn Austin, she is the fourth member of the fifth generation of the extended Capon family.

May 21, 2005 - A Day of Family Weddings!:
Third generation family member Kristy Bellingham married Bob Jones aboard a 47-foot sailboat while cruising around the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, MD. The intimate and informal ceremony was blessed with perfect weather. Meanwhile, on the same day but two hours later, fourth generation member Tom ties the knotChris Dorsey married his long time girl friend Lisa Acker in an elegant ceremony at Sunset Lodge at Capon Springs. Chris is the son of John and Robin Dorsey, grandson of Ted and Lyn Austin.

Tom Ties The Knot!:
On a cool spring afternoon, March 19, 2005 before 225 of their family and friends, Tom and Patty were married in St. Mary’s, WV. The ceremony ended with a big cheer from Tom: "Woooohooo!" They took a weeklong honeymoon trip to Sanibel Island, FL.



2004 NEWS:
Tom Austin to Wed!!:
Thanks to matchmaker friend Capon waitress, Ann Funkhouser, Tom Austin is now engaged to Patty Lou Moffett! The two finally met in person in mid-January after six months of Internet courtship. Within three months of their first in-person meeting, they were engaged! Official Wedding Date: March 19, 2005!

Jonathan Bellingham certified in reflexology:
Though he continues to maintain his Red Cross Instructor certification, Jonathan has moved away from Emergency Medical Services and into the relaxing and healing techniques of reflexology. By stimulating the reflexes in the feet and hands, nerve and blood supply are improved and stress in the body is reduced. Jonathan received his training and certification through the International Institute of Reflexology.



2003 NEWS:
Fifth Generation Continues:
Emily Budnyk-Putt and Jerry Putt welcomed home their twin infants Brennon and Lainie on Sunday, September 28, 2003. The brother and sister were born June 6, 2003 at 25 weeks and were in the intensive care unit in Charlottesville, VA until after Labor Day.

Fifth Generation Still Growing:
Even though the fifth generation of Capon family has begun, the fourths haven't quite finished adding to the family. Jonathan and Betsy Bellingham welcomed Katherine Elizabeth into the world on June 25, 2003.



Wilson Paul2002 NEWS:
Fourth Generation Starts Fifth:
Just as Mary Beth Budnyk led the way as the first fourth generation Austin family member, she and husband Keith Schweigert are the first ones to begin the fifth generation! Wilson Paul was born June 28, 2002.

weddingMusic Pavilion Wedding:
Pete and Carolyn Budnyk’s daughter Emily married Jerry Putt on April 13, 2002 at the Music Pavilion at Capon Springs. Bill Fox officiated. Emily and Jerry plan to live near Winchester, VA.

 



2001 NEWS:
Fourth Generation Wedding:
Emily Budnyk, daughter of Pete and Carolyn Budnyk, has announced her engagement to Jerry Putt of Winchester, VA. Emily teaches and coaches at the middle school in nearby Winchester, VA while Jerry teaches and coaches in nearby Loudoun County, VA.

Third Generation Instructor:
Jonathan Bellingham became an American Red Cross Instructor and is certified to teach community and workplace CPR and first aid. He led programs in emergency rescue in May and September of 2001 for guests staying at Capon.

Second Generation Passing:
Jack Bellingham, father of Jonathan Bellingham and Ginny Brill passed away on Sunday, May 13, his mother's birthday. He had been suffering with congestive heart failure for years, entering hospice in late April. A celebration of his life was held at Grace Lutheran Church in Winchester, VA on May 16. A private plaque dedication was held at the Hebron Cemetery in Winchester, VA on June 27.



2000 NEWS:
Third Generation Author:
Tom Austin compiled his 20+ years of uplifting and humorous rhyming poems for family and friends into a book. "Tom's Treasures" is available in Capon's Food Shop. A portion of the proceeds goes to the John Brill Foundation.

Second Generation Passing:
The Capon family lost its first 2nd generation member on October 17, 2000 with the death of Porter L. Austin, oldest son of Capon Founders Lou and Virginia Austin. He underwent surgery in September and never recovered. For many, years, Porter handled Capon’s reservation department. For a time, he ran the Capon Water office in New York City in the 1940’s.
