5 Things You May Not Know About the Hygeia Bath House & Spa

Since its completion in 2006, the Hygeia Bath House and Spa has been enhancing the Capon tradition of helping each guest to enjoy, recoup and relax.  If you haven’t yet visited the spa, we encourage you to stop by during your next Capon stay for a tour.  In the meantime, here are five things you may not know about the spa:

–We have an exercise pool called a “Swim Spa.” Heated to a comfortable 86 degrees, this personal splash pool provides a jetted workout area for swimming, aqua jogging, exercising, floating and having fun! Perfect for working off some of those yummy Capon desserts!  Like the baths, the Swimspa has its own private showering area and is available by appointment whenever the spa is open.

–There is a Wellness Room open 24 hours a day in the lower level of the spa.  We offer Yoga classes almost every Saturday, and sometimes classes during the week.  Class information and signup sheets are posted at the Main House. If you would like to stretch or use one of our workout videos before breakfast or bedtime, please feel free to do so.  It is a beautiful air conditioned and heated space where you can exercise no matter the weather.

–The soaking baths were modeled after the original brick style baths from Capon’s “old resort days” of the 1800s.  Since that time, people have traveled here for healing relief from pain and stress. Because the baths are filled, emptied and cleaned for each person, we do not have to treat the water with the chemicals most hot tubs require. The result: a hot, relaxing, pure Capon Springs Water bath without the chemical smell or feel.

–Two days a week we offer “Family Nights.”  From 7- 9 PM, kids of all ages can come and enjoy the Swimspa and Soaking Baths with their families.  Not only is this a fun family activity, but the kid-sized spa robes make for great family photos!  During the spring and fall, Family Nights are on Fridays and Saturdays after dinner; in the summer, they are Wednesdays and Saturdays after dinner.  Please check with us for availability during your stay at Capon.

-The Hygeia Bath House and Spa carries a wide variety of products for sale.  The selection changes often~ at any given time you can find items ranging from locally made bath salts, to Hygeia mugs, candles, lotions, all natural bug spray and even earrings!
