2025 Season starts Thursday, May 1st 2025 Calendar & Rates
Hi I’m Margy Wirtz-Henry!
I have been a Capon guest for most of my life. When I moved to West Virginia in the summer of 2021, Jonathan recruited me and I joined the Capon Co-worker team as a part-time Front Desk staffer. In 2022, I became the Interim Front Desk Manager part-time. Starting in February, I’ve taken the plunge and I am now the new Front Desk Manager—not Interim! This means I’ll be working with Morgan on reservations, working as the primary on group reservations, staffing the front desk, and overseeing the store and the gift shop, to name a few things! I’m excited to bring even more of my time and energy into serving our awesome guests, with the inside knowledge of years of coming to Capon as a guest myself. In fact, my sister and I still come and enjoy a Capon vacation in May and October each year.
Background:
I grew up most of my life in Knoxville, Tennessee. Prior to inheriting my paternal grandparents’ Tannery Farm down the road in Yellow Spring and deciding to move to West Virginia, I worked for the past 16 years for the University of Tennessee as an academic advisor, instructor and the Director of the Physical Education Activity Program. My undergraduate (Wake Forest University) and master’s degree (University of Florida) are both in Exercise Science. I have taught group fitness classes for years and am a retired certified athletic trainer.
My husband, Scott Henry, and I celebrated 15 years of marriage in 2022. He works part-time on the golf course and manages our cow-calf operation at Tannery Farm.
Favorite Capon things:
The thing I love is that indescribable feeling Capon gives me. I believe it comes from the beautiful and historic surroundings, nature, and the years and years of love and family and laughter this place has seen. It’s so easy for me to feel close to God here.
My favorite place at Capon is on the pool deck, followed by the dining room because I love to eat!
3 Fun Facts
I love to make up new words to songs. (I believe I missed my calling as a songwriter.)
I have a very healthy sense of humor which tends towards the sarcastic.
I plan to write a book about my hilarious and not-so hilarious experiences as a college advisor. I just can’t decide if it should be a humor book or a word of warning!

Hello – I am Morgan Armentrout, the Reservations Specialist at Capon. I joined the team right before the season started in 2022, so you may have seen my face at the front desk or wandering around the property at some point during your visit. I can’t wait for the season to begin so I can see all your smiling faces again this year!
I was born and raised about an hour from the resort – in Moorefield, WV. Quite a few of my family members are teachers who would spend their summers off from school helping here at Capon, so when I began looking for a new job, they urged me to look here! Prior to joining the Capon team, I was the Operations, Human Resources, and Information Technology manager for a non-profit organization. There I also gained experience in several other fields, such as Leadership Management, Marketing, and Graphic design. Additionally, I graduated in 2021 with my associate degree in business administration and completed my Human Resources training course in 2022.
There are several things I have truly grown to love about Capon. One of those things being my co-workers and the work environment. Of course, things get stressful at times, but we are all one big family. It is amazing to watch each department work together to make sure we are giving our guests the best experience possible. I also love watching our guests make new memories and start new traditions. At the front desk I get to see the pure excitement on people’s faces as they reconnect with friends and family during their time here. Another thing I love, which I think most of you will agree with, is the delicious food. There is not much that beats a Capon breakfast in my book!
3 fun facts about me:
I have 4 pets, who are really treated more like children – 2 miniature Australian Shepherds (Rocky & Rico), and 2 cats (Winston & Pookie).
I love to travel! I am just starting to travel more, so I still have a ton of places to check off my list. I enjoy seeing new things and making memories to look back on.
I always have a snack close by. I absolutely love to snack throughout the day, and almost always have some BBQ chips in my office or on my desk.
