2025 Season starts Thursday, May 1st 2025 Openings & Rates
The first World League FlingGolf DOUBLES ONLY Event will be held at Capon’s historic 9-hole golf course, over the May 30-June 1 weekend. In 2023, Capon hosted the first WLF Potomac Highlands regional event, and in 2024*, the first team event.
This year’s Potomac Highlands Championships will be both a competitive and fun environment. Lost Barrel Brewery will provide $6,000 in total prize money for the doubles tourney to be shared with both co-ed and men’s divisions based on the total number of duos entered. FlingForAll will provide a total payout of $600 for the PRO-AM tourney. Monetary prizes will be given out in cash at the awards ceremonies. Additional local WV goodies and random drawings will also be distributed!
*In 2024, the entire weekend was captured by a WV award-winning documentary filmmaker as part of the WV Innovator of the Year program. The result was a 9-minute short film about the basics of the sport and the community that enjoys it, which is being distributed for consideration at outdoor recreation film festivals.
With everyone staying at one place, eating all meals together, and enjoying resort facilities, there will be unprecedented time spent with the greatest community in sports. Join the hardy gang for the traditional pre-breakfast polar bear plunge! (Note: alternative off-site housing options available with day pass add-ons available)
The doubles teams will represent their new super regions and go toward end-of-season team points. For odd numbers of players from a given region, the WLF commissioner will determine the final pairings.
In addition, there will be a PRO-AM sponsored by FlingForAll, a WV business founded by Jonathan Bellingham to train the next generation of youth with middle and high school PE instruction and recreation clubs. This alternate shot twosome event pairs a WLF player with a Flinggolf newcomer and will have its own prize money and bonuses. The number of pairs depends on the balance of pros and amateurs entered.

9-HOLE PRO-AM SATURDAY AM
A random matching of one WLF player with one FlingGolf newbie on the short 9-hole, 30-85 yd prep course using alternating shots as in past WLF team events. Experienced players get to hone their short game while providing an introduction for first-timers to try the sport in a welcoming and safe environment. In order for Pros to participate, they must be willing to teach/coach the beginners.
18-HOLE SCRAMBLE Saturday PM
Shot gun start with two-player teams using a traditional scramble format, where each teammate plays the next shot from the location of the team’s best previous lie. Tee boxes for each division will be established by midday Friday and will not change. There will be NO reggies awarded during this round. These scores will be added to the results from Sunday morning’s alternative scoring play to create the FINAL duo score.
18-HOLE ALTERNATIVE PLAY SUNDAY AM
Shot gun start with two-player teams using the WLF alternative shot format. Reggies will be awarded on the three Par 3 holes. The scores from Sunday will be added to the Saturday scramble scores to create the FINAL duo scores. There will be NO PLAYOFFS. Winners will be determined by tie-breaking options as required and determined by the WLF commissioner.
