2025 Season starts Thursday, May 1st 2025 Calendar & Rates
New Operations Manager Brian Brill brings us his thoughts about how things are going….
The 2019 season has been up and running for about six weeks now and it has been a very busy and exciting time for all of us. Prior to opening I had the opportunity to acclimate myself to the resort and get a feel for what goes on behind the scenes. Eddie and I spend countless hours discussing everything Capon and I would not have been ready for the season without his help and the help of many others and their endless Capon knowledge. As I have settled into my new position, I have witnessed first hand how amazingly hard our Co-Workers work every day to make sure we are providing our guests with an enjoyable and memorable experience.
Most of my life has revolved around sports and they have played an influential role in how I approach life. My motto for the season is “Teamwork makes the Dreamwork” and I am a firm believer that together we can accomplish anything. This was evident in the off season preparation to make sure we had everything in good working order for our guests when they arrived for our opening Easter Weekend. It was exciting for me to see the resort come alive as guests arrived, just like I remember it being when I worked here 25 years ago as a teenager.
As we continue to enhance the property, we have made some minor changes around the resort. Some have been cosmetic, such as the new foyer floor and compass and new railings on all the main house front porches. We made some much needed improvements to many of the rooms, and we are currently making some upgrades to the Water House, all to ensure your experience here is as pleasant and memorable as it has always been. Right now the golf course is in amazing condition and is ready and waiting for your next round.
While we are making some enhancements, we are also looking to the past to see what we can bring back or put a new twist on for the 2019 season. One of those things is hot tea by the pool. This week we resurrected this long-time tradition and will continue it for the remainder of the summer season.
As the season continues, I look forward to the opportunity to meet new people as well as some familiar faces that I saw some 25 years ago. I look forward to getting to know as many of you as I can, on a porch, in the dining room, on the golf course, having hot tea at the pool, or just in passing. I look forward to hearing your stories of what Capon means to you and how we can ensure it continues to be the special place we all know and love.
One of the biggest influencers in my decision to come back to Capon was the opportunity for my wife Amy, my daughter Addyson, and my son Chase, to experience Capon and its magic. My grandfather, John Brill, loved this place more than anyplace else on earth. In my youth I didn’t really understand why, but in recent years it has become clear to me the reason. There is something about this place that is very calming, even in tumultuous times there is a peace at Capon that is hard to explain.
I know this place means a lot to all of you, too. I look forward to what the future holds for this amazing place, and for all the wonderful people that pass through our doors every day.
