2025 Season starts Thursday, May 1st 2025 Calendar & Rates
The new residents at Hog Heaven belong to Capon’s new Assistant Farm Manager, Capon guest Laura Noell! (Hint: The new residents are not cows or pigs!)
The continued focus on sustainable farming at Capon, paired with “growing” the Farm to Table experience, has increased the need for more experienced farming staff. After several “farming conversations” over the last few years with Fourth Generation family member “Farmer Sam” Brill, Laura joined the Capon Farm crew this spring. She has brought (in her words!) “a woman’s touch to the Farm”, a strong farming background, and a willingness to try anything. We are happy to introduce Laura!
BACKGROUND:
I grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and have been a Capon guest since I was a baby. I have been farming in Pennsylvania for the last 8 years and now have combined my love of Farming and Capon.
FAVORTIE PART OF WORKING AT CAPON:
The views from my “office” always have the beautiful West Virginia Mountains in the background. I absolutely love working with all the animals and being outside all day. And I can’t leave out all the co-workers who work at Capon that are a joy to work with!
WHAT MOTIVATES ME:
The simple things in life…family, friends, food, and of course, farming.
FAVORITE CAPON SPOT:
Hilltop Farm, Sunset Lodge, down by the river….It really depends on the day and my mood. They’re all amazing!
FUN FACTS ABOUT LAURA:
I am a sheep fanatic! I have been raising Shetland sheep for the last five years and you will now find them at Hog Heaven. I shear them every spring and spin their wool into yarn.
I’m also an avid knitter. My favorite items to make are socks, hats, and shawls.
I love to garden and can or freeze my extra produce.
