2025 Season starts Thursday, May 1st 2025 Calendar & Rates
A message from third generation family member, Jonathan Bellingham:
“It’s time for the morning announcements…!”
Certainly, if you stayed at Capon for at least a couple of nights sometime in the last 38 years, you have heard this phrase at least once! It has been my pleasure to not only keep you informed of the fun activities you can enjoy while you are here but participate alongside you in many of them.
After being part of the passing of the torch from the 2nds to 3rds in the 1980s and more recently with the other thirds retiring, but still being involved, it will be my turn to begin transitioning out of full-time management to a more supporting role following the summer season. A primary goal of this transition is for me to contribute to the Capon legacy for years to come in a way that works best for all.
Specifically, this September I will officially move toward retirement with a new part time position concentrating on guest facing activities in most of the ways you are accustomed to seeing me. So, I will still be taking morning dips, helping with flag raising, bingos, and campfires. You will find me greeting you on busy check-in and check-out days, both around the front desk and the dining room (and yes, the morning announcements)!
During this fall and winter, I will be delegating and training the next recreational and marketing leaders to carry on Capon’s Mission, Vision and Values. The plan is for me to be both visible and available throughout the 2025 season, primarily on spring/fall weekends and summer weeks. As always, after each season we will evaluate what is working and make the necessary tweaks.
Those of you who have been to Capon before, through and now post COVID, know that transitions are not easy- especially at Capon where change is difficult. We have not always gotten it right the first time. However, we persist and keep finding ways to move Capon forward in a positive direction.
With the current strong leadership in all managing departments, paired with the 4th generational guidance on the board, I’m confident this next transition will work out just fine. In fact, as I evolve away from my day-to-day responsibilities, my intention is that I will have MORE, not less, time to spend nurturing those Capon relationships, which are an integral part of the culture and legacy here.
I’m looking forward to this new opportunity both for me personally and Capon to shore up our shared future as we all look toward celebrating our 100th anniversary together in 8 years!
Thank you, that is all!
Jonathan
