The 2024 Season runs May 2 through Nov 9 Fall Openings
The Pavilion is divided into two halves separated by the two-story President’s Cottage in the middle. The Pavilion once housed thirty-two soaking baths during the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, while the Mountain House was still in operation. The baths were said to have been the best in the country as doctors and even diplomats testified to their luxury and health benefits. The old entrance to each bath from the front porch can still be traced in the brick and mortar work on the front walls of the Pavilion.
During the 1920’s, the Upper Pavilion was the site of a bottling plant for Capon Springs water, root beer, and ginger ale. The transformation of the Pavilion into guest rooms began in the late 1930’s. The interior renovation continued into the 1940’s. The Pavilion now has seven guest rooms on the lower wing and eight on the upper, all laid in a similar fashion. Each room is furnished with both a double bed and single bed. The total capacity is 30-40 people.
Traditionally reserved for seniors, this one level building is one of the most centrally located lodging facilities with easy access to the pool, Main House & Meeting House. These smaller rooms are better designed for individuals and couples than for families. The long colonnade front porch combined with the peaceful back porch make this a great place to relax, read a book and listening to the gurgling creek.
Guest Reviews of Pavilion
“We love being able to hear the folks playing in the pool during the day. We love hearing the fountain in the evenings. We love going to sleep at night hearing the stream run past our window. (One year there were actually bull frogs in the fountain which was another pleasant sound to lie in bed and listen to.). The rooms are just right for two although we have had our granddaughter stay there with us once. Worked out beautifully. Going to Capon and staying at the Pavilion has always felt like PEACE, RELAXATION—HOME!” – Jeff and Eileen S., Monroeville, PA
“With front and back porches, you can get a nice cross breeze on hotter nights. We enjoy having the front covered porch during rain too–we can still be outside to read or play games yet not get wet.” – Marianne G., Germantown, MD
